Here at Primary Futures we are always looking for ways to broaden children’s horizons by introducing them to a huge range of exciting futures. Which is why we have partnered with First News to help widen the access children have to first-hand information about the huge range of possibilities open to them.
First News who publish the UK’s only newspaper for young people, have now launched a free-to-use website: FirstCareers.co.uk. The website has been created to inspire and motivate primary and secondary school pupils, helping them to explore the exciting opportunities available to them after their education. With an ever-growing library of more than 150 exciting job profiles – from traditional professions to the most innovative and quirky – their website introduces young people and children to a world of possibilities.
The First Careers website provides an excellent resource for teachers and children to use that can support their Primary Futures events. Explore the videos on the First Careers website, then follow up by inviting a Primary Futures volunteer from a similar career in to answer their questions about what they’ve seen and heard in the video.
Introduce your class to what it’s like to be a Head of Architecture with the following video:
Or discover what it’s like to work in theatre:
Now sign up or log in to your Primary Futures account to invite an architecture or theatre employee in to speak to the children at your school and answer any unanswered questions.
How you use both resources together is completely up to you, but by introducing your class to our volunteers as well as the huge range of job profiles on the First Careers website you can continue to broaden the children in your classes’ horizons.
Our team is here to support you to plan activities using both Primary Futures and First Careers. Schools can access lots of resources by logging in to their account or for further information or help registering contact firstname.lastname@example.org
